The Hanging (rock) Gardens of Skye
Garbh Coire

The Skye Cuillin. Much photographed, particularly the classic shot from Elgol, but surely that huge landsape has much more to offer than a sunset. Step a few hundred yards away from the tourist trail at Coruisk and you are into a rock wonderland frequented only by climbers and geologists. Whole gardens of erratics, boulders, stones and pebbles are everywhere. Getting a coherent image out of such chaos is quite a challenge, but that's what make's it enjoyable. This time I chose to photograph in black and white. To focus on the shapes and patterns. But there is an amazing array of blues, greys, yellows, blacks and orange if the light is right.
