Iced Lightning

Allt na Guiserain
19/01/2015
The first real frosts of the year, so it was off to Allt na Guiserain, one of my favourite places for photographing ice. In parts of the river, the ice builds up in layers while the water continues to run over them. This coupled with the adjacent sunny hillside of Beinn na Cailliach usually gives some lovely complimentary blues and oranges in the water. This time though not as intense as it can sometimes be, but as they say - the devil is in the detail. This image was a small ledge of ice which was reflecting the hill and sky colours beautifully, but with forming ice crystals making an interesting background.
See my latest work gallery for a couple more images from the day.
